The somali National Flag

The Somalia National flag was acquired on 12^th October, in 1954 and symbolize the five regions that Somalia Ethnics and territories Comprise. It was designed by Mohammed Awale Liban.  Mohammed Awale Liban our fellow Country man and one of the known Somali scholars of his time, after he had been selected by the Somali labour trade union to come up with a design in preparation for independence.

The white star denotes African liberty. Each of the star's points symbolizes the five historic realms occupied by the Somali people.

The array of lands integrates: Italian Somaliland (southern Somalia), French Djibouti British Somaliland and northern Frontier Districts, Kenya (NFD) in addition to Ogadenia region of Ethiopia.

ETHNIC ANIMOSITY FUELED BY POLITICS

Are Kenyans aware of their rights constitutional and universal rights? Many are not aware of their rights and those who are aware ignore it but I have to say we are aware of the right but lack the might. Others rip off our rights whereby the politicians fuels ethnic animosity. Persuade the peasant’s majority to rise against one another.

They advocate for the giving out of arms and rifles for the commoners to protect themselves and their animals not of any benevolence but it’s for destruction and more harm to the common people who kills one another. Why all this subjugation, prejudice, demise and betrayal? By our very people who we gave our own votes.

Ethnicity is the base of every evil leading to blood shed, the politicians are the grave perils of many. Every disaster and calamity that happens is not an accident but premeditated one, more so purposed to evacuate certain people from where they are, deprive their status and destruct the mutual understanding and peaceful co-existence among the communities.

The so called revenge attacks in Isiolo among pastoral communities are not about pasture neither is it an old score of animals’ raids nor a water issue. To be precise and concise its all about politics and the dirty tricks politicians play with people mind. What is the result after all its not bread and butter, but bloodshed, death, killings, man slaughter, hatred, worrying communities  hunting down one another, sleepless nights to many residents living outskirts and many shading tears after losing their love ones.

All this evil is done before the eyes of the government. I don’t think the bandits have over powered the police force and all other security men in the district but I can descried it as the ostrich theory of hiding its head in the sand when danger lurks assuming that the danger has passed.

The fact and the reality on the ground is, all this evils are organized and financed by known tycoons and political aspirants to gain themselves popularity, power and political fame among the residents. That will never conceive any fruits sooner or later and never to expect prosperity in the poor ails.

For sure it’s a way of campaigning for the next general election comes 2012. Is this the Kenya we want? Where personal interest greed for earthly materials prevails. Its my appeal the perpetrators of this tribal clashes to be investigated and face rule of law as the Swahili say goes “ Njia ya mhini na mtahiniwa ni……..” and justice to be done. To every Mwananchi . We are brothers and sisters all human race. Let’s stop ethnicity and look for the peace, harmony, love and the unity we yearn for. Let’s abide to this and forbid the words of hatred preached by the persona non Grata of the violence (influential persons)

The quandary of Refugees

Many people in the horn of Africa are facing serious food crisis amid high food and fuel prices making them in need of food and humantarian assistance.many are trying to survive in the eyes of severe drought,fueled by high cost of living which is shooting up every day with low incomes mainly in parts of kenya,somalia and ethiopia. Estimated 9 million people are under going these traumatic experience according to the UN findings.many of them being children and women who can not support themselves or even their family making them to rely on reliefs.children affected are estimated to be 2 million with serious problem most of them facing malnutrition related diseases of which many succumbed to it. numbers of malnourished children are increasing daily in the affected areas. recently refugee camps in kenya have experienced influx of refugees caused by conflict in somalia,and threats from Al shaabab militia,making unbearable for many somali's to stay in their native places.people fleeing from somalia were confronted by many challenges such as walking for long distances, lack of food and water, attack by malitia exposing many ladies to threats from the armed malitia group! my recent encounter with some new arrivals of refugees in one of dadaab refugee camps was horrible! this was there comments " i come a distance of 500km walking,with no sign of food or water to quench my thirst for seven days.the most painful of all was leaving some of my children in the wilderness who were not able to walk not knowing if they have been feast by animals or still alive and kicking may ALLAH help us" that was a midddle age man mohamed warsame.the 2nd one was a lady in anonimity, her experience was so traumatic as she narrated to me part of what she went through and here it is " i watched my fellow ladies stripped naked and been raped so ruthless by gang men who belong the most active militia groups in somalia and they did the same to me, men raping me one after another.some lady friends of me died of the injuries incured during the incident,thanks to GOD i survived but i could not walk properly" so nasty it is.it has been from the frying pan to the fire.thanks all some articles of the nature coming soon follow me on this.
